Manchester Sightseeing Tours and Day Trips, a division of Greatdays Travel Group, a leading family run tour operator, established in 1985. We are now seeking an enthusiastic representative to join our team of 40 in our new offices in Altrincham. The candidate should be an enthusiastic, jolly person with a genuine passion and interest for history and sightseeing in Manchester and surrounding region. The role involves operating, delivering and promoting our new range of interesting sightseeing tours in Manchester and day trips by train around the Northwest region. Each morning, from around 8.00 am to 9.30 am, you meet and greet our clients at Manchester’s Piccadilly railway station. Here you explain how their day will work, hand over their travel pack, vouchers and tourist information plus answer any questions. After station duty, you travel to our office in Altrincham, where you organise your daily administration and process your bookings into our reservation system. Each month you will visit each one of our 70+ Manchester and Salford partner hotels which rack and stock our brochures. At each hotel you will build a good rapport, check brochure stock, plus explain any special offers, new products and FAM trip opportunities to the reception and concierge staff. Other duties include Production of a regular e-shot to send to the hotel partners. Occasional meet and greets at Manchester airport and other locations. Production of travel packs and travel vouchers for clients. Experience our range of day trips and suggest content improvements. Build relationships with our suppliers, guides, attractions and transport providers. Negotiate special prices and added value extras to enhance our tours and day trips. Improve text and presentation of our products on our website, social media and in brochure copy. Organise a bi-weekly brochure supply drop (by car) to our hotel partners. This is a full time role 37.5 hours per week with two weekends on duty followed by one weekend off on a rotating basis with any weekend shift time given off in lieu. The weekday shift will typically start at 8am at Piccadilly and end at 4.30pm in Altrincham. The weekend shift will typically start at 8am at Piccadilly and end at 9.30 in Piccadilly Role responsibilities Meeting and greeting clients at Piccadilly station. Building a good rapport with 70 hotels in Manchester region Monitor the daily booking volumes. Production of travel packs and vouchers for clients Co-ordination of guide and attraction bookings. Booking of trains and coach travel. Costing of day trip itineraries. Managing the booking process from start to finish. Updating our website content and brochure content. Building relationships with suppliers and customers. Regular FAM and destination inspection trips. Input into the marketing strategy. Organisation of bi-weekly brochure supply drops (by car) to our Manchester hotels. You will hold the office emergency mobile phone on a rota basis. Required attributes Travel trade experience would be an advantage. Confident person when speaking to strangers and groups of people. Good knowledge of Manchester and Northwest tourist destinations Flexibility in your working hours/days. Working in a small team of 3 in our Day Trips and Tours department Very positive and outgoing attitude Confident driver with clean driving license Friendly telephone manner and good all round communicator Good IT skills A or B grade GCSE in both English and Mathematics Reliable and responsible early starter Reside conveniently in or between Manchester and Altrincham, ideally on the Metrolink tram line.
